My Preferred Style of “Social Networking”
I have dived into the social networking scene and you can now read my “tweets” on a regular basis @janepollak. However what I enjoy most, and what I believe is vitally important, is to spend face-to-face time with people who inspire me.
This photo was taken at an Artsy Girls event. Artsy Girls is a group of women who’ve already created a name for themselves in their respective artistic fields. We meet every two to three months, benefiting from the need to network, socialize and acknowledge our success on a regular basis. I started these gatherings informally but once we began meeting regularly it became clear that networking and social bonding was exactly what our artistic community needed as a way to share our common passions and thrive together.
This leads me into sharing with you a new event Artsy Girls is putting together. One of our members, Liz Ball, is the owner of the Pierce Ball Gallery. We sat down together last spring to talk about the idea of exhibiting the work of the Artsy Girls in this beautiful space. We selected a date, held a meeting of the Artsy Girls to get as many of these creative forces on board, and ta-dah! The show is slated to open the weekend of October 2-4.
Find additional details on my blog. Please come! I plan to be there on opening day, October 2 and hope to greet you then.
Recipe for Networking
What I find missing and frustrating about a lot of networking events is that although the people you want to meet may be in attendance, you aren’t able to get ‘face time’ in the brief two-hour period. At my Remarkable Women Events (I’ve hosted five so far), each woman introduces herself to the group in a 45-second commercial so all can put a name and company to a face and a voice. Everyone has the chance to identify each other and several occasions to interact. Then we break up into small groups for more in-depth talk.
I have an exceptional database of entrepreneurial women to offer this to and who recognize the value of increasing their spheres of influence. What I provided was the recipe for success (click here for the detailed recipe).
Although these events take time and effort on my part, I come away feeling totally energized and satisfied. I hope I’m convincing you to create a gathering or two. It’s good for you and for your business. And please take note of my invitation below to join me at my upcoming Remarkable Women Event.
Regards,
